Chamber of Commerce Priorities for the 2008 Year:
1. Reach out to area businesses - through direct mail and full membership events. Increase membership by 25%.
2. Establish a calendar of events for the next year. To include Oktoberfest, Santafest, Two candidates forums. Seek to include the Garden Club, Young Islanders. Civic Association, and other events in order to help cross promote and increase participation. Including Relay for Life and Islands Fest.
3. Expand relationship with the waterfront. Through the Mayors Cup Regatta (This Saturday- March 15) www.rowtampa.com and the Dragonboat committee – May 3. Partially in preparation for the International Dragon Boat races in 2011. http://www.tampabaydragonboats.com/ and in relations with the Davis Islands Yacht Club.
4. Rewrite bylaws to reflect current operation of the organization and make available online.
5. Provide an enhanced marketing effort of Davis Islands businesses through the Peter O. Knight Airport.
6. Be more involved in the Neighborhood Plan process.
7. Provide a significant marketing effort for Davis Islands Businesses.
8. Explore the options for a mass transit plan for Davis Islands
9. Bring greater awareness of the Roy Jenkins Pool in order to better preserve the pool and its operations.
10. Help to provide a plan of purpose for the business usage of the Marjorie Park Yacht Basin
11. Influence the upgrading in appearance of the village business core.
12. Explore the possible connection of Davis Islands to downtown's Riverwalk Park.

New Officers Elected for the 2008 Year
At the March 12, 2008 meeting of the Davis Islands Chamber of Commerce, the following officers were elected:
President: Bill Sharpe, Tampa Marketing Company
VP of Membership: Jim Frijouf, Frijouf, Rust and Pyle
VP of Marketing: Michele Smith, Bureau Veritas North America
Director of Special Events: Louis Villanova,The Palm Bank
Treasurer: JoAnn Purdy, The Palm Bank
Secretary: Erin Powers, Massage Therapist
Transportation Director: John Sciosia, Bannister Bookcases
Immediate Past President: Jennifer Fadal, Wag Pet Boutique and C21 Fisher and Associates
Plans were immediately made to assist in the Relay for Life to be held March 28-29 and the Islands Fest on April 26. Both events to take place at the Seaplane Basin Park in Tampa, Florida.
